Primitivo di Gioia del Colle: Where It All Begins

IThe most authentic origins of Primitivo are found right here in Gioia del Colle. On this calcareous high ground in the Murgia area, at the end of the 18th century, the priest and agronomist Francesco Filippo Indelicati identified and selected a grape variety capable of maturing before all others: the Primitivus.

From this intuition, a viticultural heritage was born, destined to become a symbol of Apulian agricultural identity.

Here, at over 350 meters above sea level, the calcareous soil, the thermal excursions (daily temperature swings), and the sea winds create a unique terroir. It is a context that grants no shortcuts: it demands respect, attention, and a sincere relationship with the land.

Primitivo di Gioia del Colle is not just a grape variety—it is a geographical, cultural, and historical expression, the product of this plateau and the hands that have guarded it for centuries.

Tenute Bradascio was born exactly here, in the original heart of Primitivo, where past and future coexist in the furrow of farming tradition. Cultivating these vines means handing down a story, a geography, and a way of life
